Happy New Year Smith/Herring/Stewart Family! It's so exciting to begin our new year with the launching of our Smith/Herring/Stewart Family "Blessed Heritage" Blog. Juanita Herring Ings is our first blog contributor. As we move forward into the new year it's nice to reminisce on family memories of the past. Enjoy Juanita's classic memories of Christmas as a young girl within the loving home of Shade Herring and Othelia Smith Herring family at 2820 Myrtle Avenue in Jacksonville, FL. Please sign-up to join our blog community and feel free to post your comments or thoughts to our monthly blogs. They're truly wonderful and encouraging to read. Enjoy, sib
We were always excited about Christmas. Around the beginning of November, we would receive the new Sears & Roebuck Christmas catalog. From that point on, we were consumed with combing the pages of the catalog, picking our wish list and showing it to mom and dad. Our parents would patiently listen to our lengthy requests. Christmas morning arrived and under the tree was a doll, a tea set and a pair of Union Carbide skates. We would gleefully exclaim "That's EXACTLY what I wanted!!!"
As an adult I now know the true meaning of Christmas. This is the greatest gift my parents gave me. They taught me John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Thank you Mom and Dad for great memories and teaching the true meaning of Christmas. Love Always, Juanita
Bravo Aunt Juanita for capturing the spirit of Christmas with your brothers and sisters!
